About Timber Valley Homes
A family-owned custom home builder serving Windsor & Essex County with steady workmanship and hands-on oversight.
Our Story
Built on Craft, Not Volume.
Quality Without Sacrifice.
Timber Valley Homes was founded with a simple purpose – to build high-quality homes without cutting corners or losing sight of the people behind the project.
After years in the trade, we saw firsthand how often homeowners were left navigating unclear timelines, rushed workmanship, and unexpected costs. We believed there was a better way to operate, one rooted in accountability, steady supervision, and pride in the craft itself.
We don’t aim to be the largest builder in the region. We aim to be consistent, reliable, and trusted for the long term.
Every home we build reflects that mindset.
How We Work.
Building a custom home is not just construction, it’s coordination, planning, and disciplined execution over months of work.
We intentionally keep our projects manageable so each build receives direct owner involvement. That means decisions don’t pass through layers of management, and standards remain consistent from foundation to finish.
We take preparation seriously. We don’t pour foundations below freezing temperatures. We don’t rush structural work to stay on schedule. And we don’t leave problems to be hidden behind drywall.
We focus on doing the work properly the first time.
Owner-supervised builds
Leadership remains directly involved throughout construction.
Decisions are made on site, standards are enforced consistently, and accountability stays with the people responsible for the work.
Red Seal certified carpentry
Our framing and structural work is led by Red Seal certified professionals.
Precision layout, proper load handling, and disciplined craftsmanship form the backbone of every build.
Tarion registered
New home construction is backed by Tarion warranty protection.
We maintain a clean record with zero Tarion claims — a reflection of careful planning and consistent quality control.
Fully insured & WSIB compliant
We carry full insurance coverage and operate in compliance with WSIB requirements.
Homeowners can move forward knowing their project is protected and properly managed.
Meet The Team
Hands-On Leadership.
Timber Valley Homes is led by Ian Barr and Nick Fysh – both directly involved in daily site operations.
Keeping leadership present on projects ensures accountability and consistency. It also means homeowners always know who they are speaking with and who is responsible for the work.
We operate as a small, focused team by design. That structure allows us to maintain standards that would be difficult to preserve at higher volume.

What We Value.
Standards That Don’t Change
Quality isn’t something we “add on” to a project – it’s built into how we operate from day one. The same expectations apply whether we’re framing a structural shell or completing a full custom home.
Structural Integrity
What’s behind the walls matters just as much as what you see at the finish stage. We pay close attention to framing accuracy, load paths, fastening, moisture control, and material selection. A home should feel solid because it is solid, not because it looks good in photos.
Clear Communication
Building a home involves hundreds of decisions. We believe homeowners should understand what’s happening and why. We provide straightforward updates, address concerns directly, and keep expectations aligned throughout the project. Clarity prevents stress and reduces surprises.
Honest Pricing
We take time to review scope thoroughly before work begins. Costs are discussed openly, and change orders are documented and signed before additional work proceeds. No hidden markups. No last-minute surprises at the end of the job.
Accountability
Leadership remains directly involved on site. That means decisions are made by the people responsible for the work, not passed through layers of management. Accountability stays where it belongs – at the build itself.

Built on Local Reputation
In a community like ours, word travels. We take that seriously. Our work reflects directly on our name, and we build accordingly.
Testimonials
Great Homes Start With A Great Builder.
Building properly begins long before construction starts. If you’re considering a custom home, we’d be glad to review your plans, talk through expectations, and help you understand what the process truly involves.
FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are the owners actually involved in the builds?
Yes. Timber Valley Homes is intentionally structured as an owner-operated company. Ian Barr and Nick Fysh remain directly involved in daily site activity, decision-making, and quality oversight. We do not hand projects off to rotating supervisors or third-party managers.
How many projects do you take on each year?
We intentionally limit the number of projects we take on annually. Maintaining a manageable workload allows us to remain present on site, uphold consistent standards, and avoid overextending our team. Quality control requires time and attention.
What does “owner-supervised” really mean?
It means leadership is actively involved in scheduling, site reviews, structural work, and final walkthroughs. Decisions are made by the people accountable for the build — not passed through layers of management.
Why is Tarion registration important?
Tarion registration ensures that new home builds are backed by a regulated warranty program. We are proud to maintain a clean Tarion record with zero claims — a reflection of disciplined construction practices and attention to detail.
Do you work with subcontractors?
Yes. We work with a network of trusted trades who share our expectations for quality and professionalism. Many of these relationships have been built over years of working together locally in Windsor & Essex County.
What makes Timber Valley Homes different from larger builders?
Our structure allows for direct communication, consistent oversight, and decision-making without multiple layers of management. We focus on steady execution rather than high volume production.
